Jean-Éric Vergne's passion for motorsport started at a very young age, climbing the ranks to race in Formula Renault, Formula 3 and GP3. His impressive season in the 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series earnt him a drive in Formula 1 for Scuderia Toro Rosso the following year. He competed in Formula 1 until 2014, achieving a best finish of 6th. 

In late 2014 he made the decision to compete in Formula E, which was a newly emerging racing series at the time. He impressed with Andretti, scoring 2 podiums and finishing 7th overall. The next couple of years he improved and by the end of the 2016-17 season he had won his first E-prix with Techeeteh. The following seasons got even better as he showed his raw talent to win both seasons 4 and 5 of the Formula E Championship, becoming the first (and only so far) double champion in the sport. 

He will be working hard to return to the top step of the podium in season 9. He is partnered with Stoffel Vandoorne this year: two champions of the sport who will challenge strongly for the title.
