Rafael Villagómez made his car racing debut in 2020 in the French F4 Championship. Villagómez scored a second-place podium and ended the season in 6th with 121 points. In 2021, the Mexican driver made his debut in the Formula 3 Championship for HWA Racelab. Unfortunately, he was unable to score any points throughout his campaign and his best finish was 13th.

Villagómez switched to Van Amersfoot Racing for the 2022 season. He scored his first F3 points at Imola. For the 2023 season, the Mexican driver remains with Van Amersfoot Racing.
